My two sons were predicted poor GCSE maths results, with scores of 2 to 4 in their mocks. One of them has subsequently been diagnosed with ADHD and the other has dyspraxia. Ilse was recommended to me by another maths tutor as being a great teacher, particularly with teens, and as a result of her teaching they both achieved 6’s at GCSE in 2021 and 2023 respectively. I also referred a colleague's son to Ilse who was also predicted a poor grade and he achieved a 7 for GCSE maths in August 2025. Ilse is an excellent tutor and as a family we are hugely grateful for her work with the boys, developing a rapport, realising their potential and helping them gain confidence in maths. Hands down the best tutor my daughter has had. Over the years we've tried many maths tutors and finally met Ilse who totally understood her and pitched her teaching just right for her. She used visual tools and multi layered techniques to really get information into her long term memory. Before starting with Ilse, passing her gcse felt like a battle but with both their hard work she achieved it. No resits for her! Highly highly recommend.

Ilse was my maths tutor when I went back to school as a mature student to gain my maths GCSE. Without Ilse’s patience and excellent knowledge to get me through the exam, I would never have passed. In fact, I was so impressed with Ilse, I asked her to tutor 3 of my 4 children to get them through their GCSE maths. Ilse catered her tutor lessons to suit my children’s individual needs, and explained everything in different ways if they didn’t get it the first time. Without her patience and dedication we would never have passed. Ilse is amazing and I highly recommend her.
My daughter was tutored by Ilse five years ago, she struggled with maths & at that point we weren’t sure she’d pass! She did & she attributes that to Ilse - she’s incredibly patient, great at explaining things & very kind. Fast forward five years & my youngest son is now being tutored by Ilse, he’s enjoying his sessions (something he didn’t think was possible)!
Before I started working with Ilse, I was really struggling with maths at school. My lack of confidence was partly due to poor teaching, and being dyslexic made it even harder for me to keep up. But Ilse, as someone who also has dyslexia, understood exactly where I was having difficulty and knew how to support me in the best way. The online sessions with Ilse were incredibly helpful. They boosted my understanding and confidence in ways I hadn’t thought possible. Ilse suggested that I take the IGCSE maths exam in January, a few months before my GCSEs in May/June, and I’m so glad I took her advice. I ended up getting a 6, which I was absolutely thrilled with. I honestly never thought I’d be able to say this, but Ilse made me enjoy maths again. I was working at a 3 when I started with her, and to go from that to a 6 was such an incredible improvement. She was always patient and explained things as many times as I needed until I understood. And I still use the skills and techniques Ilse taught me 5 years on. I can’t thank her enough. She was so kind and understanding, and I’m truly grateful for all the help she gave me.
Ilse is a great teacher, not only is she great at maths and explaining difficult math problems, she is also great at recognizing other problems the student might face. We are so grateful for Ilse, she has a irreplaceable place in our hearts and we will gladly recommend her.
We have three sons. All professional ski racers and all focused on sport. School and maths, yes, were a problem. That is until we were introduced to Ilse and Squareroetsmaths. As a teacher myself (skiing)it is rare to come across such a natural teacher as Ilse Roets, who puts her students and their needs first. Teaching to Ilse is a voyage of discovery. And fun! Who ever thought maths could be fun? Our boys absolutely loved it and sailed through their GCSE’s effortlessly. Now that was quite something. More than we ever hoped for. Ilse is truly one of the great teachers I have come across. It was truly a pleasure listening in the background to her teaching our boys. Yes, we were listening and learning. Ilse is a wonderful tutor. She helped my son for about a year with his maths, hugely increased his confidence and helped him to get a very good grade for his maths GCSE..much better than we thought possible. He liked Ilse very much and I highly recommend her 😊
Ilse tutored my daughter online for at least 2 years. Maths was a real struggle for my daughter and her confidence was low. Through her patience and ability to break down problems and using visual tools Ilse was able to really help her. She really boosted her confidence and my daughter passed her Maths GCSE which was a huge achievement for her. We cannot thank Ilse enough and I would highly recommend her for any student who struggles with Maths.
Ms Rotes taught me maths while at school and was probably the reason I passed, the way she explained the problems, the answers and how you get there was phenomenal - I still find myself singing how to find area of a trapezium!
